Christopher “Chase” Carey/Chasin Mediation
Founder & Leader

Chase Carey spent 20 years in Corporate America’s Health Insurance and Consulting industry, in significant positions. In 1998, as a VP of Underwriting for Aetna, Inc., he contacted the Chief Medical Officer telling him of the benefits of Meditation and other Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) techniques. He offered to help the company become a major force in bringing these techniques to the health insurance industry and the people it took care of. He received a courteous reply admitting it all made sense but that he was simply “too far ahead of them.” 17 years later Aetna is teaching its employees to Meditate.
In the 1990’s his Meditation work began at The Monroe Institute in Virginia. He participated in 6 week-long programs, which are 24/7 immersions into deep Meditative states and guided exploration within them. The training enabled him to re-enter any number of Meditative states, near instantaneously, at will, anywhere, anytime, including at work while solving complex problems as a career insurance executive. He can teach you to do this too.

Chase teaches his personally developed Advanced forms of Meditation: Inner Essence Meditation(TM), Professional Meditation(TM), and Stress Domino Stress Meditation(TM) and is a Certified Meditation Teacher for the Sarah’s McLean’s Simple, Easy Every Day Meditation (SEED) Method(TM).

He is an Author (Chasin’ Meditation), Professional Speaker, Certified Reiki Master, Jin Shin Jyutsu Practitioner, 1st Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, Certified Master Scuba Diver, Tactical Firearms Enthusiast, and has worked as an Extra in TV and Movies (Drop Dead Diva, Necessary Roughness, Satisfaction, A&Es COMA, and more). He received his MBA from Villanova University and BS from Penn State University.

Atlanta’s Most Trusted Advisors: Why HIPAA Is Important To You

IMG_8297

Atlanta’s Most Trusted Advisors interviews industry experts from in and around the Metro Atlanta Area. Our goal is to provide valuable information that all business owners and managers can use in their day-to-day work to help them succeed.

What Do You Mean I Have to Be HIPAA Compliant?

While most of us are familiar with the term, HIPAA, that knowledge typically doesn’t extend past our signature on a form when we visit the doctor. Most people certainly don’t realize that being “HIPAA-compliant” stretches far beyond medical practices to anyone who has access to patient information. These companies are called “business associates” and include accountants, attorneys, HR professionals and more. On this show Donna Grindle of Kardon Compliance shares her expertise about what HIPAA is, how one can get, and remain, compliant. She is joined by Sean Joyce of Patientco who talks about his experience as a business associate as well.

IMG_8149

Lara Sturm/Crossfit Johns Creek

Owner/Coach
My husband and I own CrossFit Johns Creek and are also co-owners of CrossFit Chattahoochee in Duluth. I am also a coach for Team Rohr Powerlifiting.

I compete and am active within USA Powerlifting. USA Powerlifting is the largest drug-tested powerlifting federation within the US and is recognized by the International Powerlifting Federation. (The IPF is recognized by the IOC and is included in the World Games.) Within the USAPL, I act as a State Referee, one of the Athlete Representatives for the organization and as meet director.

As an athlete, I won the National Championship in 2015 for both the 63k (138lb) Open class and the Masters class and then went on to win my 2nd Masters IPF World Championship title. I hold American records for the squat (402lb) and total (1003lb) for my age and weight class. My best meet lifts are 402 squat, 220 bench, 391 Deadlift, 1003 total. I am an equipped lifter which means I wear supportive gear while lifting which helps add more weight to your lifts but is not forgiving, hurts a lot, and as hard to master as a perfect golf swing, which means I never will… lol

I am the meet director for the annual USAPL Powerlifting for Pink, a local meet that is also a fundraiser. Our fundraising efforts go to Paint GA Pink, a local breast cancer non-profit that helps breast cancer patients continue to pay their bills while they are undergoing treatment. Over the last three years we have raised about 15k!
