This morning we talked about some great resources business owners can use to outsource their HR and CFO needs.

First up we had on Phil Davis who is a partner at FlexHR, a Duluth, GA based business. In irder to be a prtner for FLexHR you mustr have over 20 years senior HR leadership experience. Phil has over 30 years experience with comapny’s like GE and Pitney-Bowes, so he knows his stuff. He explined to us that today Human Resources compliance can be expensive and complicated. Employers today need a resource to help them be sure they are getting the most for the money they spend and the most from the employees they hire and FlexHR provides both. He said “We look at things from both the employer’s point of view and the employee’ point of view and, we provide both tactical and strategic HR in ways that will benefit your bottom line.” For more information please go to their website www.flexhr.com and look up Phil. He’ll be glad to answer any of your questions.

Next up we had on Tim McLellan, CPA with B2B CFO. Tim explained that every company, regardless of its size, needs a Chief Financial Officer. And since partners with B2B CFO work on a contract basis having a CFO is now affordable to most businesses. He said that they typically work with owners of emerging and mid-market companies with revenues up to $75 million who want to increase cash, profitability, sales and company value. He himself spends half his time working with start-ups and the rest with established businesses. He explained that each has their own set of unique challenges. For more information please look Tim up on his website www.b2bcfo.com

Also if you know of a business owner in Atlanta that we should know about please email Amy Otto at Amy @ atlantabusinessradio.com and we will try and get him or her on the show.

This morning we talked about all things Taste of Dunwoody. Taste of Dunwoody is an event that is close to the heart of Amy as she has been involved with it since it started. The event benefits Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta every year and this year donations will go to the Department of Neuroscience.

So we started the show with Dr Tom Burns one of the Directors in the Neuroscience Department who shared lots of great information about all the good that Children’s is doing to help kids in Atlanta and the Southeast. As Children’s is a not for profit hospital they are constantly raising funds in order to do help more kids. They spend a lot of the money on technology and research. Four areas they work in are: NeuroTrauma, NeuroOncology, NeuroSpine and Epilepsy. For more information please go to their website www.choa.org.

Next we had on Pam Koch, the co-chair of the Taste of Dunwoody event. She told us the event takes place February 1 from 7pm – 10:30pm. It will be at the W Hotel in Dunwoody and will feature almost 3 dozen of the areas best restaurants sampling some of their favorite dishes. They sell out every year so get those tickets now. The website is www.choa.org/tod

Next up we had on Alon Balshon, Pastry Chef and owner of Alon’s Bakery which is coming to the Perimeter Mall area in February.
Alon opened the first Alon’s Bakery in 1992 in Virginia Highlands. Over the years, the store expanded in size and scope and now his second location is just a couple of weeks away. Inspired by specialty markets in Europe and New York, Alon was passionate to bring a full service gourmet market to the Virginia Highlands. Since it’s opening, Alon’s has become a neighborhood and city favorite receiving high accolades from Gourmet Magazine, Atlanta Magazine, the Atlanta Journal Constitution and Creative Loafing. For more information please go to their website www.alons.com
Then we closed the show with Jeff Trump owner of one of Sandy Springs’ favorite restaurants, Brooklyn Cafe. Jeff has been in the restaurant business for a long time. Before purchasing Brooklyn Cafe he was with the Houston’s Restaurant organization for 16 years. Jeff is a big believer in giving back and has been instrumental in raising over $100,000 for local non-profit organizations. The menu at Brooklyn Cafe changes seasonally but always features the freshest fish and vegetables and over 90% of the sauces and dressings are mad in house. They also have an extensive wine list that is selected in order to match the food served on the menu. Jezebel Magazine puts rates it as one of the Top 100 Restaurants in Atlanta. they have received the Zagat Guide Award of Distinction as one of the Top 40 Most Popular Restaurants in Atlanta. Next up we began a dynamic discussion about Linked-In with Sean E. Nelson with Acuity Benefits Solutions and marketing consultant Leslie-Anne McAllister.

Leslie-Anne drew on her many years working with the Yellow Pages about ways small business owners can use Linked-In more profitably.

Sean has been thoroughly researching ways to use Linked-In and he shared some great tips. Here are 3 ways Sean built his network 1- Searched on companies he had worked for and schools he had attended to reconnect with people he had known in the past 2- Looked through his own CardScan contact list for people he had met though Chamber events. 3-Searched for people he had met while doing business including current clients.

Sean also shared some great tips about common mistakes people make on Linked-In…like using the canned text they provide when sending out connection invitations rather than personalizing their message. You’ll have to listen to the show with a pencil and paper to write down all the great tips that were thrown out by our guests.
